Male Dipper
EOS20D, 400mm, f5.6, 1/250sec, ISO 400, Tripod, Bag hide, FF
Hi all,
Latest shot, and I can't make up my mind about it - this is full frame as the Dipper caiught me completely off guard and came to the nest from a different position - not often you're glad you haven't got a 500mm lens! This is the male a splt second before he flew up into the nest to join the female.
Appreciate its way tighter than I normally like, but I love the pose and the completely side-on nature of the shot, almost intimate?
Interested to know whether people like it or not...
Cheers
Mark

Hi Mark
Now that is very nice - lovely background, great pose. I don't think that the tightness matters too much at all.
That's better Mark.... a subject that nearly takes your eye out when viewed
All joking aside, although contrary to popular belief, I don't actually like birds too big in the frame either, it's just my postings seem to heading that way I must seek some kind of compositional counselling...or take notice of my own critique
This actually works for me, albeit it marginally tight, but I think that any other pose would have made this look ridiculously tight, but it's really very effective and different from the norm, so good one Mark...
I actually had a Dipper fly straight towards me at the weekend and literally passed my head by about 10 feet at eye level. Superb experience....now only if I had a camera on that day
