Charlottesville, Va May 7-11
I am going to be in Charlottesville starting on May 7 - 11 on business. I was wondering if anyone here is from that area?? I will have every evening to get out and do something and I was hoping that there was something to get into.

BTW...here in southern Virginia, seems like everything made it through the few freezing nights we had. So far seems like the most of the damage is held to smaller areas. Here is a trillium post frost!

Glad to see they made it through. I don't think many down here did. We'll see this weekend! Nice shot!

Hey Darrin -

I am not from Charlottesville, but my mother lives about 20 miles north in Orange. If you are looking for stuff to do, you should check out Thomas Jefferson's home, Monticello in Charlottesville. The house is amazing and the grounds and gardens are photos begging to be taken. Montpelier (James Madison's home) is in Orange. One of the best winery's/SERIOUS Italian restuarants in the enire USA is Barboursville Vinyards in Barboursville, north of Charlottesville.

Charlottesville is know for outdoor rec and the arts. UVA is there too. So I am sure you'll find plenty else to explore! Hope that helps!

I lived in Greene county just North of Charlottesville for a number of years. If you're into nature & hiking, I'd suggest checking out the old fire trails that lead up to the Appalchian trail. There are a couple of nice Falls in the Charlottesville area (I think one is called South River Falls), that can be approached either from below on the fire trails or from above, ie Appalchian Trail.
