I have a Gitzo 1348 with a rubber tripod foot that is no longer securely attached. How can I secure the foot so that it does not fall out? Is some kind of glue ok? What kind? Would purchasing a new foot fix this problem?

Thanks for any suggestions.

I had the same problem on my G 2220. In fact I lost a rubber foot and had to replace all 3.
This time I cut narrow strips of duct tape (1/2 inch) to wrap around the metal leg portion of the tripod
and covered enough of the foot at the same time.

I dont know if you have tec7 around where you live, if so. I would use that, its a sort of "updated" silicon, it is much stronger and as far as i know it contains no acids.

Just a quick thanks to Robert for posting the query and Wim for the link to Tec7. I am always interested in adhesives and the site even had an MSDS. Now, if I can find some to try.

Thanks for the ideas guys.

I am a bit nervous about glue. I am worried that it might be too permanent and might interfere when the rubber foot actually needs changing.

Duct tape seems a bit unsightly and impermanent. I may start with tape as the safe choice.
