Hey everybody
I just want to give a heads up that 6 of my large prints including 3 limited editions were stolen from my show at Colorado College (total retail value=$3225). I am really PO'ed at the moment. If anybody sees any thing on E-bay that looks like spectacular photographs from Colorado, Utah and AZ being listed I would appreciate a headsup. I will post the images here later.( they are on my home computer and I have to get some things done here at CC

Look on the bright side Steve - whoever it was obviously considered them worth risking jail for! This puts your work in the same league as Van Gogh and DaVinci. Can you think of a bigger compliment?

Jeez, What's up with that?! Sorry to hear the bad news. :frown:

I'm an eBay-a-holic and will keep my eyes open. I'm sure I'd recognize your outstanding work, even if I didn't have the heads-up.

That's really messed up. Only a person with absolutely no conscience would want to look at stolen goods on their walls every day. Keep an eye out for Craigslist as well. If you find them on Craigslist, act like an interested buyer (use an email/phone # that will not give away your identity), and then have the Police meet you (out of sight) at the place of transaction. I'll keep my eyes open as well. You know you've arrived as an artist when your pictures are trading on the black market.

Oh man.... unbelievable. That is such bad karma for whoever did it. Well, as others have mentioned, it could be considered the ultimate bastard compliment. Are they insured by CC?

Here is one of the stolen images framed to 32x38

That's pathetic  . No security cameras? I can't image that one can be very inconspicuous making off with 6 large, framed prints. I hope that the CC has insurance....

No there are no security cameras. I am told I will be compensated for them, but I was supposed to be delivering them to a client on Saturday who had purchased all of them. So now I have to reprint, frame etc.

In a sense, won't the valuation of the stolen goods by the insurance company/CC (or whoever will compensate you) determine how bad the damage really is (from a financial standpoint)? If they are valued at retail price and then you sell the new ones at retail price, your profit essentially doubles, right? (It's as if you sold them twice) If they reimburse only the material/time costs, it's just a pain/frustration and you make the same amount of money. Regardless, I know that it is a pain either way, and it is disappointing to lose items that were promised to a buyer. I'm also very surprised that there were no video cameras. At DU (and I mean no disrespect to CC, honestly), it seems that are hundreds of video cameras on campus, one in every major room of every building (a bit creepy at times). Heck, I'm sitting here in the law library and there are two of them staring at me right now. Best regards on recovering what was lost.

Where's Big Brother when we need him? Every move we make is watched and giant, fine-art prints walk off?!!! You'll get it worked out, Steve and the posse here at RMNP has your back.

Sorry about the loss Steve, but glad to hear there was insurance coverage.
I guess it could be considered a compliment if they only stole yours and left all the others :frown:

A few years ago one of my prints hung outside my office disappeared.
I assumed the thief wanted the frame.

Ouch. That's really awful. I hope they are able to catch the person that did it or that you are compensated for your loss. That just really sucks. :frown:

Just curious, how many did you have on display there?

Jennifer
I had 19 total hanging. They seemed to cherry pick the most spectacular grand landscape limited edition prints, so they knew what they were after.

I have now posted all of the images over in the Main Discussion Forum
