Can some one tell me what sort of close focus distance and mag' ratio I can expect if I buy and fit the Kenko extension ring set (12mm,20mm and 36mm) on my Canon 300 F/2.8 IS and maybe also an EF1.4 TC? Maybe not all the rings??

Can I hope for shots similar to a 50mm macro, 100mm macro....?

Any advice is gratefully received.

Thanks

Tim, thanks for that.

I'm wondering about using the 300mm F/2.8 with tubes for dragon flies etc.

Cheers

Hi,

Should be ideal... you will gain working distance, DoF at the same aperture with the same subject magnification on the sensor with any lens will be as near as possible identical, my favourite lens for df's is the 300/4 with extension tubes.
