Rowena is Awakening
Please don't critique this - just to show you that the hills are awake and in about 10 days a LOT of Lupine will join the party as well. Watch out for ticks... they are everywhere so leave all 4 footed friends at home. Careful where you step also, the ground is really soft and many flowers are not yet fully formed.

The Dalles Hills are in the same condition. This season might be good.

Lets hope so ! One question, what are your thoughts on ticks out there ? The majority of lyme disease seems to come from the NE but should it be a major concern? Just curious how far in precautions we should take it.

Until the year before last, I had never seen a tick at either the Dalles Hills or Rowena. Ozzy our dog gets them until we tried the Frontline stuff. So far this year, he's been tick-less. He had one in his head last year so I called the Vet. She said to just yank as much of it out as possible and then watch the area for a few days. She wasn't too worried about it.
As far as Lymes disease goes, well, you did just drive on a road with a bunch of other nut cases going 65-70-75 miles per hour to get to Rowena, Who knows what drunk, meth addicted, heavily armed thug you'll meet out there admiring the flowers, or looking for a peaceful spot to cook up some crack.
All in all, be cautious but don't be paranoid.

Mark,

I have to laugh at your post......this fall while up at Tunnel falls and twister falls there were 2 guys who were NOT hikers, and NOT in shape sitting there enjoying the scenery drinking coffee out of a mug like you get at the gas station.....and yep, they had the ole pipe going!!!

all I could think to myself was......if ya wanna get high, ya don't have to walk 6.3 miles uphill in the woods to do it!!!!

at least they picked a beautiful spot to lite up!!!!

Hey, crackheads can enjoy nature just like the rest of us!

Yes they can, however, their thought process sometimes amazes me! Now I think I will crack a beer and get to work on my wildflower shots I took up in your neck of the woods today Mark! :toast:

no ticks today...I think the wind was too strong and they might have been blowing in the wind! I did not see any on any flowers
