I just posted this in ES&S too. Is it bad style to post the same photo in more than one forum? I wanted to share it with the local crowd but also get feedback from the larger community as well.
Anyway...this is Fall Creek, a tributary to the North Umpqua River. I was psyched to find this vantage down on the creek and I liked the light and character of the trees and rocks. Initially I felt like all the elements of the composition came together well, but perhaps it is too busy. What is your initial reaction?

I've posted in both forums before, not bad form IMO. But most of the time I try to post different images because I simply have too many to share. I post my best stuff on ESS and PNWNP gets the rest , usually.
This is an unusual composition, Sean. There's a lot going on everywhere, but I like it. Seems well balanced and very lush. Nice work. Captures the essence of the NW.

It doesn't seem too busy to me at all... It is completely characteristic of our typical beautiful streams. I really like the exposure and colors, and the composition looking downstream is something I am trying to do more and more with my own work. I'd say you captured it well...

I think this is a gorgeous image. The moss covered tree on the right really anchors the shot! And the creek leads the eye perfectly. .
And pardon my ignorance, but what is the ESS forum?

I love the light on the mossy trees, but the overall image is just a bit busy for me.

I like it but I do feel there may be a bit too much going on, especially in the upper right. I see a black hole up there and a bit of a dark line with the trunk. I would crop it, about 1/5 off the right, but in order to maintain some frame balance, also 1/4 off the top. Might make it still feel intimate while retaining the outstanding tree, and awesome depth with the mist and stream. Good stuff.
