A client has asked me to do some general photo work (nature and landscape, mostly) in the Berkshires this spring and summer.
My whole life, I've spent a total of about two hours in western Massachusetts. So this shoot is requiring a bit of research.
To that end, does anyone have recommendations of specific places/routes/landscapes/etc. in the Berkshire area that are great for photography? I'll have a total of about a week to work: a couple days in May or early June, and a few days in July. Traveling from Connecticut.
just your luck i live in the pittsfield which is basically central berkshire.. first what type of nature and landscape do you have to focus on.. in May (mid to late May) you might be able to catch the end of the spring ephemerals in a great place in shefield. other than that there are may other things to shoot around here all summer.. dragonflies, waterfalls, sunsets, and other great things.. Canoe Meadows wildlife sanctuary is basically my back yard and there you will find many interesting things like birds, frogs, turtles, flowers, farmfields and much more.. send me an email if you have any questions
Trustees of Reservations: http://www.thetrustees.org/
This is an organization that preserves both lands with natural features or value as well as homesteads, farms and buildings. They have some very interesting places they own and preserve and most of them are open to the public. Check out their website.
Also look at Mass Audubon: http://www.massaudubon.org/index.php
The have places all over the Berkshires.
Also in June you may want to stop by Bartholemews Cobble ( look on the Trustees of Reservations website) for great wild flowers and such.
You might also take a look at the New England waterfall website:

In all cases talk to Jeffery, you can't beat local knowledge!
First, apologies for my delay in responding ... I've been working out-of-state a lot lately, and am just catching up on things this week.
Second, thank you, both. I'm planning on making a run up to the area this week or next to scout some locations, and I'll definitely look into all the options you've presented.

I do have one more question ... How's the foliage looking up there right now? Any leaves on the trees yet?
We just started getting green down here a couple weeks ago, so I wanted to ask before I hop in the car for a two-hour drive.
Thank you again.
Best,
Chris
