Black & White Series - Desert Curves
I am working on a new series of macro plants from the Southwest. I haven't played much with black & white in the past, but I thought now would be a good time to start exploring my range. This was shot in January at the botanical garden in Palm Springs, California. I have about five shots that are all black & white vertical panoramics. What are your thoughts?

Nikon D70, ISO 200, 105mm Macro, tripod, remote, curves, levels, desaturation, contrast.

My eyes seem to want a tiny bit more DOF at the bottom, but otherwise, it is awesome. The vertical pano and the B&W work really well.

I like the shallow DOF. Very nice.

Thank you for your comments! This is a bit out of my comfort range, so it is nice to know it is appealing to all of you. I will post a couple more from this series over the next week or so. After next week, I should have some new work from Phoenix area.

I'm surprised this is "out of your comfort range". It looks as if you've been doing this type of stuff for years. Very different. :toast:
