Hi,
This is my first post to the UKNP. This Grey Heron was flying over
Cuckmere Haven in Sussex. I'm not sure how best to frame a bird
flying in a plain background. Any suggestions gratefully received.
The image has been cropped & basic adjustments made in Aperture.

Hi Pete,
Welcome aboard. You have done well by ensuring the bird is flying left to right as the other way is slightly jarring to the eye. As long as you keep it off centre and always allow more space to the right you shall be fine.

Welcome Pete - nice first post, nice smooth BG, maybe do with a tad of USM and also a tiny bit of contrast increase on the bird as he looks a bit flat - but nice comp and well done for handheld too
Welcome Pete. I don't know much about framing birds in flight but the comp is pleasing to me. Good first post and agree re suggestion above from Andy about a touch more USM
Hiya Pete,
Like your pic, agree with the need for a tad more sharpening, but otherwise very nice.

Great shot Pete, IMO I would like to see a tighter crop. Haven't seen many pics shot with 400mm f4 DO good to see, I was tempted but I have purchased a 300mm f/2.8IS which will arrive soon..
