Feel free to crit or commnet. I am still plying with this PSE5 conversion technique that uses levels/gradient and individual color channels. Its pretty cool, I think.
Thanks!

Hi John,
Very cool pix! I like the composition, but as a photograph, it's bit too much contrast for my taste. In fact, it reminds me of a pen & ink drawing. On the other hand, this would be a respectable piece of fine art!
Ken thanks for your comments. I agree, I think I over processed it a bit. I will take another crack at it. The area I am concentrating on now is trying to duplicate what I did in the darkroom years ago. I printed on Oriental Seagull paper, exposed on a 4x5 cold light enlarger, processed in D-76, fixed, then toned in selenium toner to increase the D-max, add some highlight/midtone seperation and add some punch.

You've got an interesting composition, John. I like the zig-zag pattern of the cascades. Good choice in shutter speed, too. I like that you didn't let it go completely fuzzy.
The main issue is the significantly sized areas of blown highlights. High-contrast would work here for my tastes, but getting the highlights under control and getting some detail out of the darks would help a lot.
Thanks for your help guys. It is getting better. I went back to the original shot (not the DXO version) and stated over. Does not look so "pen and ink" anymore, softer contrast and the shadows and highlights are looking better to me. Comments appreciated!
Here's one I played with in CS3 using NIK filters and B/W Conversion

Wow John,
I like your newest version the best. You kept the high lights under better control. And I like the crop's composition. Also another thing I notice was that you didn't slow the water down as much as I did because you had no filter. But in this case it really seemed to work because the water wasn't moving very fast.
Thanks Derek! I am still tweaking this shot - needs a bit more punch. The exposure was 1/8s @ f22. I would have rather used f11 but with the light conditions I was struggling to get slow speeds. As Rick alluded to, I like to show motion in the water not fuzziness but, generally I don't like water that is freeze framed.
James, I like your shot too... bit yellow for me though. I new that tuft of grasses would look cool. I am going to RMNP tommorrow and check out Erik's new Gallery.
