Fighting Purple Herons-Ardea Purperrea
Hi Guys,

I know a place where at this time of year a colony of about 120 pairs of Purle Herons nest. It is the largest colony we have in the Netherlands of these elusive birds and it's allways a joy to go there.
Here's one of the shots i took last night before the sun went down and two of the Herons got into an argument.
Unfortunately i forgot to bring my converter and so i had to shoot with just the 500mm so this is cropped about 30%.

Greetiings,

Jeroen Stel

Surreal scene, quite odd. Interesting though.

A beautiful scene, the colour of the reeds form a perfect backdrop. :toast:

Very nice Jeroen.

Is this somewhere southeast of Amsterdam?

Hi Guys,

Thanks for your comments.
To Rob: This place is called the "Zouweboezem" and lies near Leerdam about 100Km under Amsterdam.

Greetings,
