Snakes Head Fritillary
Hi,

Had a great morning down at the reserves Sean mentioned in his Fritillary post (Thanks!):toast:.

Having never seen these flowers before I'm not sure if this is an abnormal specimen (With the petals splaying open), or just at a different stage in it's life?

All comments welcome

Hi a nice image but i do find the big yellow blob bottom right and the white out of focus flower in the background a little distracting.

Phillip.

I agree that perhaps the yellow blob in lower right is perhaps a little too dominant. However, I like everything else about the picture. Certainly never seen a fritillary quite like this one.

Hi Rob

An excellent result from your visit, I personally quite like the strong out of focus yellow in the foreground, the dandelions and cowslip are a feature of these hay meadow fields too and I think your composition works well. Also nice lighting on the flower head.

The splayed out behaviour is normal although this is the most I have ever seen on a flower of this type. Maybe a result of the dry weather??

Good shot, like it. :toast:

cheers

Sean
