OK, actually it's Ponytail falls, but I needed a different title. The spring foliage was just starting to come out, allowing me this perspective downstream without too many leaves blocking the view of the falls above. Great water flow in the gorge right now! This wet April has REALLY helped things.

Nice angle Marc. That's a lot of work to get that far down stream isn't it?
My sister and I took my folks for a drive down waterfall row Saturday and I noticed the water flow, and was wishing I had the time and the knees to hike to Fairy and Ponytail.

Fairy falls is still about 2 weeks away from being in season, but yeah, it's pretty far up there, and this is a pretty steep one too. Still though, I bet you had a great trip through the gorge even with the knee problems. So many accessable places even without a long hike.
Nice one Marc. Its good to see a different angle on this falls.

I must have been here just before you.. I shot this too yesterday... (same loc.)

You shot it from downstream at this spot, Ned? Man, that is weird. We were unknowingly following each other around yesterday I guess.

Interesting perspective on pony tail Marc. Similar to one I saw last year from someone else on NPN.
The composition is is great, but that log in the LMG bothers me. Its there so you have to include it.

Nice location and technique. About the image itself though I'm not really feeling it. Ponytail isn't grand enough to have a through the trees appeal, like elowah or other gorge falls, I feel it's almost a distraction here. Lots of people on the local hiking forums are suggesting there are more falls upstream on Horsetail creek. I wandered about 1/2 mile up there once, but I believe you went a lot farther one time, did you see any 20+ footers up there?

Andy, "Adamus" falls (what Zack named it last year) is up there about a mile. It's one of the most photogenic falls in the gorge IMO. It's only about 30-feet though.

aw man that's it only a mile, damn i knew i should have jumped in, I had not brought my dry bag so I stopped when I could not safely rock hop anymore, argh! Well at least I grabbed a top perspective of ponytail while I was there. Well theres another one on my list for May, which is getting huge.

Isn't Triple Falls up there a couple miles as well? or is that a different trail...

This is one of a couple trails that leads to Triple Falls. This is the more scenic of the two, about 3 miles.
