Has anyone else been missing the humming bird's usual return?
We usually have them by now and I was wondering if the cold snap had made them change their accomidations.

I have seen a male at my feeder. I haven't had a lot of time the past couple of weeks to watch for them, but I wondered the same thing. Between the cold and the wind, maybe they decided to go somewhere else? :frown:

I don't have my feeder up yet but as I drove in this evening I saw one sitting on the fence next to the end of the house where we put our feeders. I think it was giving me a hint that it's time.

We had our first visitor of the year-just fashionably late.

Hey Leanne -

I had been concerned about the little flyers too, but Friday evening one flew up to my window and gave me a "HELLO - your feeders?!?!" look. I filled two of my feeders yesterday morning and counted five birds - pretty good for me of this time of year. In July I usually have 7 feeders and around 30 birds. There's a female at the porch feeder now! Looks like they just waited for the cold snap to pass.

My mother reports 3 birds at her feeders in NW Virginia.
