After being overcast for the former portion of the day, the clouds soon began to part, drawing a rather impressive display of light, albeit brief. Our excitement peaked upon seeing the blooms of the lupine; making the this trip along the oregon coast worthwhile. The light was contained via a set of grads.

I would appreciate feedback, thanks.

Hi Trevor! Welcome to PNWNP forum. What's taking you guys so long to comment on this? This looks like one seriously difficult shot to pull off. I admire the effort. 2-grad ND's or one? Rare to find Lupine so close to the coast. I'd like to see the shutter around 1/8 or so to stop that wave action a little more, and perhaps a reverse 4-stop grad would have left the water areas a little brighter while controlling the sky. The clouds are a really nice asset. A minor point - looks like the color gradient might be getting a little banded at ULC. Overall, a very good attempt at this dynamic and exciting image.

Very good image with great composition. The banding Marc talked about could possibly be handled with some PS work. What are your camera and exposure details?

Great shot ! Where in the heck did you find lupine along the Oregon coast ?

Wonderful work there, the ND is completely seamless.

Thanks a lot, guys. While scouting for a sunset location, the uniqueness of the lupine solidified our decision.

Thanks for your thoughtful reply, Marc. I am making the best of the current setup I own ( 300d, elan 7e, canon and sigma lenses), which doesn't feature a 4-stop grad. In due time I'll have the setup which grants me the premier quality and complete-exposure flexibility. I used two grads on this occasion. I would have ideally liked to reduce the exposure time, but that would have required either reducing dof further or boosting the iso.

Love the drama, and elemnts here. The lupines are great touch. It is a bit contrasty for me.

Lots of good stuff going on here with the nice sunset and clouds, lupine in the FG and breaking waves. I agree with Tomas that the contrast seems a little high.

Another vote for an excellent image. The drama is great and very well done for your setup.

Very nice but maybe a little too much to take in. You could make seperate images out of the top and the bottom.

The grass on the right sort of bugs me, but I like the mid-ground a little better than at the position I had staked out, and I think you pulled off the clouds a little better too.
