Hi Folks,
Can anyone identify this flower. Its a shrub, photographed in early April, along a pathway running in between agricultural fields.
Any ideas or pointers would be very much appreciated!

Looks like Ribes family - the raspberry group - not meaning to be rude

Nice image Elliott - looks very like something my dear old Mum used to call Flowering Currant.

It is the Flowering Currant Ribes sanguineum there are a number of cultivars ranging from white to deep red. A non-native species in the UK (native to western coastal N.America)which is useful as a source of nectar during the early part of the year for insects emerging from hibernation. A very nice portrait of a lovely flower at this time of year.

Thanks all for the ID. Was thrown by the non-nativeness. Found it in my encyclopaedia of plants and flowers. There is a pathway in Lancashire, near Lydiate, that is covered with this. Must like the climate!
