This was taken just after sunrise a couple weeks ago at the Konza Prairie, near Manhattan, KS. To me, it represents the beauty of that chilly morning out on the prairie. Canon 30D, ISO 400, f/5.6, 1/800, 90mm. Comments/suggestions/critique welcome.
For those who went to the spring gathering, I hope you had fun.
Looks great Rob. I just came from the beginning of the spring gathering - holy cow, or should I say PIG! That Wayne guy from Kansas sure does know how to cook some fine Kansas pork on the grill! It was kind of funny as we all went running off into the woods to photograph the sunset while good old Wayne was left behind at the cabin to tend the grill. When we returned he was sitting on the front porch with a tall glass of fine wine (or should I say a half glass). We really needed a deer for that sunset shot like you got here.
Very, very nice Rob! The light and composition is just fantastic. This is superb in every way.
Sorry you were not able to make it to the gathering this weekend - maybe next time...

That's really quite nice, Rob. The light on the grass and the mood of the picture is just fantastic. It evokes quite nice feeling. Thanks for posting!

Rob, I really like the sense of place you've captured here. Good comp all the way around I have only made about six miles of the trails there and that was at mid-day while just scouting out what it had to offer. Did you have to get special permission to be there at dusk? I seemed to recall the hours were rather limiting.
Great environmental shot, looking forward to more!

Thanks everybody. It was a beautiful morning on the prairie. Wayne, the sign reads that the you can be there one hour before sunrise, and one hour after sunset, with 10pm final closing time. We got out there less than 1/2 hour before sunrise, and this pic was taken shortly after sunrise. We foolishly did the long trail, mainly just to see what was way out there. That was way too much walking, especially with the hills, but now we know. The long 6 mile trail is better for birders, but otherwise the 2 and 4 mile trails are just fine, IMO. Thanks again, and it sounds like you folks had a great weekend.
