Hey all,

Just found out that they retreived some plague positive bunnies and squirrels from the city park area (Denver, Colorado) in the last few days. (I think it was also on Fox news tonight).

Although it is somewhat difficult to contract, be careful around any dead little fuzzies you find out there.

Play safe,
Alex

I understand that nearly half of the Prairie Dogs (AKA Prairie Rats) that WERE one the Pawnee Grass Lands have died of Plague in the last year or two. The ones with plague have been nicknamed, "hot dogs."

Once again I won’t be able to participate in the annual Hug a Rodent Festival. :frown:

While we are on the subject, please also be reminded that hantavirus is a threat in mouse-infested areas such as the canyon alcoves that I love to camp in. :frown:

CDC hantavirus information

When camping, be sure to place your food stores well out of reach of rodents (I hang my food bag from my erected tripod) and do not disturb dens or middens.

Interesting information, Dave. Note that it is not abnormal in large colonies to have massive die-offs. The surviving Plague Puppies inhabit other regions of the 'Dog Town for years, leaving the old section abandoned.
