Herons at Bath (Ohio) Rookery
The herons are still here and some of the nests have newly hatched little ones.. If you are in the area --check it out.

This was shot this AM.

There was a point where the light compromises were decent. Same place, same time, different interpretation.

There is supposed to be one of the largest rookeries in the Midwest in the new wildlife refugee near my home (Big Oaks Refugee) but they don't let visitors in yet, it's really going to be great when I get access to this place. Just to clarify, you can go in but on a very limited access, the place is over 50,000 acres but the public can visit maybe a 2-3000acres of it, lots of great things to explore it has unlimited potential. I am sorry for rambling, these are really nice guys :toast:

Sounds lie its going to be a good thing when it opens..... I only hope that the access is good. herons are really not adverse to being around people. Some biologists think they are like spotted owls the way they protect them!

Herons are so difficult to photograph around here. I attempt an image or two of them when I'm out taking landscape images, but they do not like the presence of people. Anytime I try they fly away before I'm within 50 yards.
