A big salute to Wayne for organizing a great spring gathering for CSNPs in the Buffalo River area this past weekend! Twas a wonderful group of talented photographers, and some of them could cook pretty darn well too. I only got to shoot with the group Sunday morning at the new Smith Creek Scenic Area (above), but I know they all got some terrific images on Saturday as well and I can't wait to see them, and hear a few of the stories. Thanks for letting me crash the party, and keep up the great work!

What a great gathering it was! So great that I'm going to nominate Wayne for the position of social director for all future events. But he's gonna have to read his camera manual before attempting a group photo again  As for me, I'll volunteer to be in charge of lost and found. I went back to Boen Gulf later this morning to retrieve my GPS that got snagged in some brush - after picking up my release not 3 feet away that I had gone back to get after leaving it at the first location we shot Saturday morning. Whew!...

All kidding aside, I want to say how much I enjoyed meeting everybody. And a big thanks to you Tim for leading the group down into Smith Creek - one of the most spectacular wilderness areas I've ever seen. I feel quite lucky to have had a chance to photograph a small portion of it this morning.

Here's my last image of the weekend...

I have to add my voice to that salute to Wayne - it's just too bad he was cooking Friday night and missed out on this fantastic sunset!

It really was a great weekend! It was great to meet everyone, and the places we visited were just incredible! I'm sure we'll all have a lot of great pictures from the trip.

Bill, am I to understand that you actually found your GPS???

It was a great weekend and I am sure we all have tons of photos to process. Bill, I agree, we need to elect Wayne to Social director. He did a great job of keeping us all together this weekend. Glad you found your GPS! The light was incredible at Smith Creek today. I have a few with that great glow, but since you and Tim have posted shots in that area, here is one from Broadwater Hollow Saturday.

Glad everyone enjoyed the weekend! It was a fun filled weekend for sure, from sunup to sunset (and beyond for Glenn & me)! As for me I made it home in record time thanks to Bruce's tip, and I got to see more of Arkansas to boot.

I can't thank you all enough, without each of your participation none of this would have been possible. It's a memory I'll treasure for a long time and we accomplished just what I had hoped. Tim, thanks again for the special access to Smith Creek, it's a special place for sure!

Now I'll throw one shot into the mix from Boen Gulf. I was going to put up the moonlit barn shot but after seeing your images I had second thoughts. Thanks again everyone, I enjoyed meeting and getting to know all of you! :wavey:

Ok--Now I really feel bad that I missed out on the fun.
I tried to make my way to the Autumn Breeze Cabin on Sunday am but missed the turn off and by the time I found the cabin you guys were long gone. Maybe next time.
Here is my 'plan b' photo.

Sorry I couldn't make the trip this year but I needed to be with my family. I'm glad you had a great social coordinator and I appreciate all the emails and planning Wayne provided. The shots look really great! Keep them coming.

Same here... wish I could have had more time so I could have joined y'all. Looks like you had a fun and highly productive time together. Maybe next time? Wayne, when is next time?

Looks like I missed some fantastic light Sunday morning, I'll have to get in there soon! It was great to meet everyone and I learned a lot. Wayne I'm glad you got home ok. On my way home I remembered seeing a road closure sign up for Hwy 39 and was afraid I'd sent you on another goose chase! I want to see your barn pic.

Though I have internet access, I'm not set up for editing and posting photos, but I am really enjoying the flurry of posts coming in from the woods back home. I'm disappointed that I missed what seems to have been one heckuva gathering right before I move away, but I'll be back to Arkansas right about the time of the 5th annual CSNP Spring gathering. I can't wait.
