The Tulips in Holland, MI are out just in time for the annual Tulip Festival. This Spring's nasty weather doesn't appear to have had any effect on the flowers! The festival starts this weekend, so if any of you want to get in some (semi)tourist free shooting, and you have the time, I would recommend doing so now.
This is a quick edit from yesterday morning at Veldheer's.

Tony,
Theres lots of Tulips farms in Oregon a well. I am looking forward to that next spring ( hopefully!). It is an amazing site when you see it!
I' would cut the brightness just a bit. Otherwise I like this a lot. lots of photographers have a tendency to write the book, instead of the sentence when they see these tulip fields. You did a great job writing the sentence. Theres a whole lot conveyed here.JG

Nice image, Toni.
I can also confirm what Toni has mentioned. That if tulip images are what your into then this is a great place to visit. Don't be thinking along of the lines of fields of flowers though. There is a field of flowers, but the grand shot you envision isn' t there. The image like Toni just shared is a great example of what one could expect.
Then a trip over to the lake for sunset is nice and close as well.
Jack...I did manage to get a few shots of the field itself, but as Robert said..the grand shot isn't there and that is because the place isn't large enough...yet. Thanks for the suggestion re the brightness....I haven't done final editing yet so will definitely turn that down a bit.
Robert...yes, a drive to the lake is well worth it!
Toni - nice shot. My family is planning a trip to Holland for the last weekend of the Festival, including a little camping at Holland State Park. It should be fun, and I'm hoping for some shots like this....
Any flowers blooming in the coastal parks? I am thinking of exploring the Saugatuck Dunes Natural Area - thoughts?
Hope you like crowds, Christopher! It's been a while since I've gone to the festival on the last weekend, but do know it gets VERY busy and parking spaces are few and far between unless you go into town very early in the morning. Did you secure a camping spot yet?
As for the flowers in the dunes...I can't say for sure at this time of year, but Saugatuck Dunes is a great place for some hiking, regardless. The dune grass should be greening up nicely. While you're there, check out the Felt Mansion. Don't forget to climb to the top of Mt. Baldy across the Kalamazoo River from Saugatuck for a great view of the area, if you haven't done so before.
You could still do it this year, Bernie, although, unless you have made reservations someplace, you might have to stay (even camping!) in Muskegon or Grand Rapids, which isn't all bad...both only about 45 minutes from Holland. Weather the rest of this week should be near perfect with sunshine and 60's-70 º's predicted for the rest of the week!
