Greetings!
Hi guys. I just joined Nature Photographers after enjoying your photos and banter for the last year or so. It took me more than an hour to figure out how to make a web image and post it. (I'm not kidding.) I've tried postting on other sites in the past, and my images wind up fuzzy and washed out. At any rate, your work has motivated me. I took this photo two years ago in Ansel Adams Wilderness. (Pentax 645nii, 45-85 zoom, 3-stop ND grad, Velvia)

Thanks,

Ian Camp

Hi Ian. Absolutely fantastic image you found here. Outstanding light and nice exposure control. I especially like the foreground features leading me in. Web posting can be tricky. Use the "Save for Web" feature in PS as a preview tool, and take a look at my web sharpening method Here. Great first post. An area I intend to visit later in the year.

ps. Your print should arrive today.

Thanks Marc. Considering I spent only one day in this location, I got pretty lucky with the light. Thanks for the tips. I'm looking forward to enjoying your print. I'll be out of town later today through Friday for work, so I won't see it until then.

Cheers!

Oh God! Another awesome photographer pushing the rest of down the list! Don't you know you're supposed to post something crappy first and let us help you out!

Welcome, Ian, can't wait to see more.

Ha! Mark, you're a legend! Especially in the climbing world. I think we share an acquaintance in Jeff Ellington. I'm looking forward to meeting you and the rest of the PNW gang sometime soon.

Ian,
Nice first post. I'll be the first one to nit pick a little and say the ND grad line is a little too noticable. Other than that, I think it's outstanding. Welcome!

Thanks, I haven't talked to Jeff in years now. Where in the world is he? I haven't climbed in a year or two now. Even as we speak I'm leaning more towards a photography trip this fall rather than a climbing trip.

Hi Erik.Yah, I agree on the obvious use of the grad. I never quite know where the line is until I get my film back. And the trees turning black is someting I just have to live with in this situation. Thanks for the nit.

Mark: Jeff is in Bend, married with child (maybe children by now). I haven't seen him for a year or so. I understand the climbing/photography balance. It's hard to have two addictions.

I was just telling Mark on our SW trip that I wanted to hit this exact spot. Other than what my bro said, this is really sweet. Welcome aboard Ian!

If God told me I was going to die in two months I'd spend everyday rock climbing.

Great first post, Ian. The noticeable grad line detracts just a little but that sky, the color, and your composition are outstanding. Keep 'em comin'.
