Burrowing parakeets
Taken at the Reserva Faunistica de Punta Bermeja, La Loberia, Argentina last year. I think these are Cyanoliseus patagonus which burrow into the sandy soil at the tops of the cliffs a bit like puffins.

Not very sharp due to the focus mech of the lens not being able to keep up. The brown in the left BG is a colony of southern Sea Lions.

Nikon D50; nikkor 70-300mm @ 300mm; 1/1250-f5.6; iso280. shot as jpg, minor US mask in photoshop and cropped from RHS.

Hi John

I have never even heard of these, an interesting species captured from a great viewpoint. Thanks for posting!

Thanks for the comments guys. Graham, The visitor centre is a small wooden building at the end of a dirt track at the top of the cliff with a wooden walkway which extends out over the edge of the (somewhat impressive) cliffs. The main reason for the centre is for the sealion colony which was in full nursery mode when we visited with lots of bulls defending ther territory, the birds were a pleasant surprise. Access to the base of the cliffs is prohibited and so all photos of the sealions were taken from this high viewpoint.
