Spent the last few days on the Western Slope, enjoying 85-degree days and relatively warm nights. I took the jaunt out to this arch, then the next day I noticed how absolutely sore I was. That seemed odd. Even though I'm not in great shape here at the end of the cold season, it sure didn't seem like this little hike should've wiped me out like it did. Turns out I came down with a minor bug. The next day I learned firsthand that it's no fun to hike into the Dominguez Canyon proposed wilderness with all-over body ache, even if it is just six miles RT with very minor elevation gain. Oh well, dodging lightning on the hike out was a good way to keep my mind off of how crappy I felt.
(I know somebody out there is thinking, geez, you want a little cheese with that whine?)
I got quite a few different perspectives of this arch, but I liked the imposing clouds in this one.
Interesting formation. Im curious why you didn't 'ground' the shot? Not sure if it would have made it better or worse, but it was obviously intentional on your part, so curious as to the thought process behind that decision.
Cool photo, Todd. I like the clouds and the perspective. Sorry to hear about the all over body aches. Dealt with 'em on Sunday and am still trying to recover. Hope you're feeling better!
The light is a bit harsh for my tastes, but as harsh light images go, this holds up very well thanks to the colors and clouds. I hope that the bug is short-lived - things are starting to look really purdy out there!
