A couple weeks ago I took a vacation down in Baja. A friend and I flew to Cabo, rented a 4x4 and some surfboards, and went camping for 9 days. First we drove up along the west coast, then down the East Cape, from La Paz back down to Cabo.

I took along my D80 to try out some beach shooting. I must say it was a nice change of pace to take photos in my sandals with a Pacifico Ballena in one hand. I probably got a little too relaxed... for a lot of the photos it was like "Oh look at that sunset... I think I'll mozy on over and take a shot!"... in other words, not too serious about planning any shots. But that's alright; I came away with some I like.

Check them out here: http://www.widerange.org/gallery.php?gallery=baja

This one here is one of my favorites. It was well after sunset, 30sec exposure.

Jack, great stuff as usual. I wish I could get images like this with no planning  Of all the images, I think I like the one you posted the least. Sweet stuff on your link.

Jack - a wide range of compostions (get it? heh, heh) I like the feel of the night shot with the mystic tide.

Jack, I like the long exposure that gives a mysterios softness to the water. I'd suggest cloning out the radio tower, if you feel comfortable doing so.

Thanks for your comments. Steve - if the radio tower were the only sign of civilization in the photo, I might clone it out, but since there's already also houses and telephone poles, I kind of like it in there. In a way it is the focal point of the composition.

Sounds - and looks - like you had a great time. You came back with a nice collection of pics. I was in Cabo a few years back; it may be the only warm-weather vacation getaway that I think I might enjoy doing again!
