Here's another shot from the full moon rise over Mt. Shasta Monday night. I played around quite a bit trying to get a fast enough shutter to stop the wind motion of the flowers. For this shot I was able to get 1/25 sec at f/8 and ISO 400 using a 3-stop NG. Clearly a narrow focal range, but kind of dreamy. I just read Guy Tal's latest article in which he states "sharpness doesn't always matter" in support of the creative blur. I'm not sure this qualifies as a good example of "creative blur" however. I thought I'd put it out there and get some of your gut reactions.
I really dig it upon initial looks. It does give it a sense of mystery, I feel like I'm waking up from a dream or something. As I look at it more though, I start to get annoyed because I really want to check out that mountain. So I like it but I don't, but I do.
Yea, I need the mountain to be sharp. Too bad the conditions didn't quite come together for you on this particular trip. Believe me, I know the feeling. I've been out on three shoots in the last three weeks and am not satisfied with anything i came away with.
I think the mtn being soft works for some uses but as is I find the moon distracting. Also, if you're going to do selective focus with this scene all the lupine need to be sharp, IMO.
