Chillin' with Dillon
I stopped at the Dillon Resevoir on the way back from Rifle this weekend, most of it is still frozen but the end near Frisco is breaking up and made for some nice sunset shots. I posted another from the dam in the ESS gallery (aside; is it it better to link to the other post or post the picture in both forums??)

Wow, I'm surprised there's still a lot of ice on the rez, but perhaps I'm too quick to gauge things by our recent 85-degree days. Stan, this shot is stunning! The reflection looks a smidgen lighter than the mountains, but you have to be looking for that. Outstanding!

Nice shot. I like the light on the mountains.

Thanks, guys. I was wondering if anyone would fault the lack of clarity between the treeline and mountains. That looks much better in the original RAW/Tiff, but for some reason the jpeg conversion blew it out, so i attempted to lighten the midtones a bit, but couldn't do too much because it would have worsened the problem Todd pointed out.
Also, i think i could have sharpened the jpeg a bit more--wish i could show you the big Tiff!

Stan, Thanks for the memories.

Every year there's a contest to see who can predict when the ice will break up at the dam. Most of the time not until very late April or even early May when they throw a clock into the dam and it breaks through the ice.

Nice capture of the reflection of the mountains. Grays and Torrey's, I believe.

Thanks for sharing.

Stan, I'm definitely digging this more than your ESS post - just my opinion. I love how you composed the reflection of the mountains between the ice. A little selective dodging in the reflection should take care of Todd's comment. I agree, some additional sharpening would be good, so long as you wouldn't have to compress the image too much as a jpg. I hope CS3 is better than Elements in this area.

This is a great shot Stan. Last year I was there at the beginning of April and it was already breaking up this much south of Frisco. I too am surprised the ice is holding this long.

Nice find, Stan. Just a perfect slice of water for the reflection! This web version could use a little more sharpening I think.

Pretty! Sniff, I wish we still had ice and snow, sniff!

Laurent; there's still time--i was just checking some stats and found that Co Springs gets snow in May an average of once every 3 years, course it hasnt happened since 2001. Looks a tad too warm for this weekend, but the foothills might get some snow, and the mountains might get mucho snow!

Sweet shot, Stan. A little sharpening would help for sure, but otherwise this rocks.
