Long time lurker, and I am thinking this is the first time I've posted a photo on the boards. I just got my first dslr a week ago, so I am a noobie with it. Was using an old Oly P/S 2mp before so this is a big jump up.

Just a little pond from all the melting snow in the Gallatin mountains south of Bozeman Mt. We've been having temps. in the 70's and 80's here so the snow is going away fast. I wish I would have found this earlier in the morning, but I have plans to be back here for a sunrise shot.

Harold, thanks for posting. I've been to Montana a number of times (I used to live in Spokane, Washington). The west side of the state is beautiful!

I like this scene. I also like how the upper cloud matches the receeding ridgeline. I think a sunrise shot would be nice for more dramatic lighting. It would even be better if the water was still in the morning and you got a reflection!

Harold, i also like the fact that you include some of the foreground--that certainly improves the comp. Did you use a polarizer? If not, i think it would have helped control the exposure on the clouds. Thanks for the post--keep 'em coming!

Harold - great to see you posting a pic. Great scenery that you've got here. I think a nice sunrise would show it off very well. This is pretty nice too, especially given the daytime light - good job keeping the contrast under control.
