Unoriginal GOG Photo
I shot this one last Sunday morning and got neither great light nor clouds (but did run into Mel Ladewig on top of the ridge). First time I had been to this spot.

Looking at other photos which include this same tree, it appears that I shot this tighter than most people. Does it work?

Good morning Tony.

I think this does work OK, but without the base of the tree, it does feel like the branches are slicing the frame apart.

It was too bad that we got no alpenglow that morning, but this light looks OK to me.

The light looks great to me! That right-hand branch is a little distracting, but I don't know what you had to work with there.

It's definitely not too tight. Nice self-portrait, too!

Nice self-portrait, too!

 I was lying on the ground when I took this, and you can see two of my tripod legs and my arm reaching up for the cable release on the branch center-right. I brightened the shadows on a layer quite a bit so you can just barely see them now.

This looks to me like Alpenglow. The light is great, and I like the comp. The colors seem a little magenta-ish on my sRGB monitor, but not a big deal. Thanks for posting.

Tony, I think the lighting is great here. I've been to the Garden a couple of times, but I've not photographed from this spot. Since I've seen this location posted so many times, I guess I'd need only look for the cars and tripods!

I like it, Tony. My personal preference would be the more typical comp with the rest of the tree in the frame, but this works very well also.

Gotta get out and walk to this spot Steve.
