I recently upgraded to CS3 and am trying to configure things for optimal performance.
What cache setting(s) should I use for optimal performance of bridge. John Shaw recommends using distributed cache so cache follows the file/folder if moved. This is not a choice in the new bridge preference dialogue, however there is a choice to copy cache to folders when available (or something like that). Does this do the same thing? How should bridge be configured so that thumbs appear quickly whenever a folder is opened?
My second question has to do with camera raw. I've noticed that when making adjustments (like exposure, recovery, etc.) to an image using the sliders there is a delay btwn the time I click and drag and when the slider actually moves. There is also a lag btwn the slider moving and the updated preview of its effect. I noticed this also with my previous version of camera raw and whenever I had to make a lot of raw edits, say to 400 event images I reverted to canon's dpp. Should the adjustments made to images be seen nearly instaneously or am I asking too much?
I currently have a PC with pentium 4 processor and 2 gbs of ram so there should be plenty of power. I also set PS to use 85% of the available RAM. Does this include camera raw? Thanks for any help you can provide.
