Hi,

I don't belong to this group, but I wanted to get some recommendations on places to visit during a road trip I'll be doing to Oregon from Friday May 11th to 16th. I'm driving from Northern California, I plan to stop at Crater Lake, and then wanted to go for some creek and waterfalls shots as I've seen some posted here. From May 17 to Sunday I'll be on a workshop more focused to the coast.

I'll appreciate any recommendation, comments, and/or input on this is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

-Edward.

I would highly recommend the Columbia River Gorge, specifically Wahclella Falls, Ponytail Falls Trail, Wahkeena Falls Trail, and Eagle Creek Trail. That's a lot to cover, but you can't go wrong with any one of those in my book. I'm sure other folks have more suggestions as well.

Since it looks like you're starting at the southwest corner of the state and then working your way northward, you'll be outside of the usual circuit for those based in the Portland metro area. My thought is that you will want to buy a couple of guidebooks on your arrival. There's an excellent book on waterfalls in Oregon, and a number of good books on locations at the coast. You really can't go wrong, there's so much out there....and post us an image or two when you get home and work them up!

Edward,
After you leave Crater Lake you can drive up to Diamond Lake and then come down the highway that follows the North Umpqua River toward Roseburg. There are many great creeks and falls along this stretch within about an hour or two from Crater Lake. Most of them are accessible by short hikes from parking areas along the hwy. I would recommend Williams Creek, Fall Creek and Toketee Falls, although there are many more. When you reach Roseburg you are only about 1.5 hours away from Bandon on the Oregon Coast. Google North Umpqua water falls and you should find some good info.
