I may have an opportunity to be in the Michigan area for a few days in July or early August.
I know nothing about this area. I know this question is rather open-ended, but at any rate, what would you recommend as a great site for dramatic landscapes and possibly wildlife, especially bald eagles and/or wolves?
Thanks.

There are several wetlands near us, as you'll see from the pics. btw, we just returned from a great trip to Zion and Bryce.
I've been to Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, on the east side of the lower peninsula, and I'd recommend it. Also, there are LOTS of places to visit in the UP, and the weather will be much more pleasant.
But, that's about all that I can offer since I'm only a visitor there, too...
Lance: Michigan is a pretty large state. A lot depends on what you are looking for. And a lot depends on how much time you have and how far you are willing to drive. From Detroit, it is well over 600 miles to the western reaches of the Upper Peninsula. The Escarpment at "Lake of the Clouds" near Ontanogon (almost as far west as you can go) is pretty dramatic for landscape views. At the Eastern end of the the Upper Peninsula, the "Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore" has a number of nice landscape ops, some of them with waterfalls. In Lower Michigan, in my opinion, there are less "dramatic" landscape ops, but there are still many. In the north western part of the state, the Lelenau Peninsula has some pretty spectacular views, including views of Lake Michigan and Lake Lelenau. On the eastern side of the state, you can find great views of Lake Huron. There is a State Park north of Rogers City on the US 23 on the East coast of Northern Michigan called P.J. Hoeft State Park that has some nice views. The Sun rises on that side, so there could be some dramatic sunrise photos. There are nice views of the Mackinaw Bridge from both sides of the Straights of Mackinaw. On the West side of the state, there are views and other Landscape ops in Wilderness State Park in the north west corner of the Lower Peninsula. Further down the coast, there are views of Lake Michigan from "Bay Harbor" just south of Petoskey. There are also nice panoramic landscape views up the Old Mission Peninsula, north of Traverse City. Also, up and down both coasts, there are a number of lighthouses, some of which are very photogenic I am less familiar with either the East or West coasts of the Southern Lower Michigan, but there are those here who can probably guide you there. All of my suggestions are probably a minimum of 4 1/2 hours drive from Detroit. The Upper Peninsula locations (by the way, there are also many waterfalls up there)is substantially longer. Once you cross the bridge, except for a short run up to Sault Ste. Marie, there are no expressways up there.
