Saved - Holy Cross Wilderness
It's great to see so many pics being posted; thought I'd join in!

I have always liked this photo - taken on a backpacking trip to Missouri Lakes a couple of years ago - but could never get it quite right, the main issue being a not-too-carefully placed GND. I spent some time reworking it this past week and think I managed to mitigate that grad effect.

That is some nice looking light Rick. I've been wanting to run the Holy Cross 4WD trail for the last few summers and hadn't worked it out. Its one I shouldn't do alone. One of these days I'll get in there though. I think the top of the foreground peak still looks a little dark, but otherwise is looks very well balanced. The only other thing is that the frame is 50-50 and the sky doesn't appear to have alot going on. Maybe cropping 1/3 or so of the sky off would help with the composition. There are alot of nice triangular lines in the frame.

The light is very nice, and the exposure is good as well. I agree with Mel about the sky. Maybe including more FG would have been better. Thanks for sharing.

I agree a little dodging on the top of the peak on the left would do it. Nice shot!

Rick, thanks for sharing. I have to agree with what was said before.

Thanks for the comments and suggestions! I agree with taking some time to address that top edge of the foreground mountain. On the crop, I like that cloud that is working its way in from the right, but agree that it doesn't have the impact necessary to justify so much sky. Cropping it gives a funky aspect ratio that I'm not very fond of - not quite standard, not quite pano. I think I'll try to increase the contrast there and see I can make the cloud stand out more.

Thanks again!
