Every day we brush off the loose hair on our Golden Retriever, normally it goes in the bin but this time of the year we put it on the lawn as the birds love it for nesting material. Fascinating to watch them pick up individual hairs rather than a clump of hair. I guess it is easier to handle if they are all aligned in the beak?

Canon 580Ex flashgun and better beamer used to lift the shadows slightly @ -1 1/3 comp

1/100sec@f8 iso 200. (slightly short on DoF at f8 but I couldn't get a clean image any slower, too much subject movement)

Thought it was a Bearded Tit

It's amazing how many birds use animal hair to line their nests. It is a good example to us to recycle.

Hi Kevin,

Very good behavioural shot. Look's like some exotic bird with those "whiskers".

Your story reminds of when I was a kid, my Dad used to grow a beard over the winter and come April/May he looked like Grizzly Adams, we all used to go in the garden and watch the big shave, we too always left his beard on the lawn and in the bushes and the birds always come and took it away.

Regards

Rob
