When I saw this scene I knew I was about to take my best photo of the trip. I only took three shots but I was real careful with the comp and camera settings (even given the f/16, printed at 11x17, it's dead sharp throughout).
I'm going to post this one on ESS on Monday.
Mark,
I took the liberty of reworking this. I did a levels adj, then I did the Fenimore Local Contrast Sharpening technique to draw out more seperation between the slates. I then further enhanced that by dodging the shadows over the whole image twice at 6%. I also cropped a little from the top, as there was some dead, un-interesting space up there. What do you think? I like it a lot...
Thanks, Rick. I can see more contrast but mine has a glowing quality that I like that yours lacks. I actually have a version much like yours. Maybe mine is a bit too red.
Mark, I'd like to see more of your Utah intimate landsapes. This one has a definite, uhm, erotic element, at least for me. I suspect your print is better than the web version. Let me know if you show it in Hood River, and I'll stop by and check it out. At any rate, you've inspired me to get my arse down there and think similarly. Thanks.
Thanks, Ian, the show I did with my Mother, "Interpretations" will be showing at the Columbia Gorge Community Art Gallery in Hood River starting August 1st and running the whole month. I'm post a message about it as the time gets closer. Four of the eight photos my Mom chose to interpret were SW shots.

the lines are great!
Thanks for all the comments. Darren, I felt that the plant was a particularly important piece of the shot.
BTW, If you're a fan Spiderman 3 is pretty good.
