Nope, not the slot canyon. I went up to my perch at Hwy 128 this morning and waited and waited as the fog rolled in and out and in and out. When the sun was out, the mountains were completely socked in; when the mountains were visible, there was no sun to light them up. No biggie; it was a great morning to be out, watching the weather roll through in almost absolute silence - no birds, no cars...nothing. It was unusually quiet. Finally, about an hour after sunrise - and over a period of about 2 minutes - the fog practically completely vanished, and out came the mountains.
Although I couldn't photograph it, I'm pretty sure I saw a "glory" just before shooting this scene. I never saw my shadow as Todd did in his brocken spectre shot, but it almost looks like remnants of the glory can be seen in the fog in this shot.
NIce, Rick! I was in Broomfield for a conference this weekend. I got up early this morning hoping for a sunrise and only saw fog and low clouds so I went back to bed. When I got up the mountains were out. So much for predicting Colorado weather. -- AAAH
Sweet shot Rick. I was driving to work (to photograph a graduation) on I-25 this morning around 7:00 and saw the clouds lifting over the mountains and wondered if anyone was capturing it. Now I know. Wish I could have stopped. Nice job!
Well, you knowI love this! Wish I'd been there. I left the house at 4:30 this morning and headed up to the hills, but didn't get a thing. This shot is awesome!
The placement of the fog is perfect. This is one of my favorites from this general location. The short grass and snowy ground combined with the fog give this shot the look of something taken from Trail Ridge Road looking across Forest Canyon.
Awesome layers! And, although I had to follow the link to learn what a glory is, I think it's pretty close to happening over on the left. Wonderful image!
