Jewel of the Gorge
Decided I needed to go back up here and rework this area....I came home today with a better shot then I got last week.

C & C welcomed and appreciated.

Thanks,

Comp is great, but it feels oversharpened to me.

Great comp Darren, I dig it.

I like the diagonal flow to the composition and interest throughout.

Nuts... another mystery scene in the Gorge! At first I thought this might be Ruckel Creek Falls, but the shape and stream gradient don't look right... any hints, Darren..?

This could be my out-of-calibration monitor acting up, but the image looks just a bit light with a slight yellow cast to the highlights. I like the composition - always a big fan of stream views that lead to a distant falls.

Thanks Tom,

the more I look at it I keep thinking it has a bit of a yellow cast to it also. The light was filtered through whispy clouds. I may take another look at it and see if I can whiten the water up a bit..

not sure yet, but I might even print this one!

you need to go further east to find this beauty!!!!

Hmmm.... I'm gonna say Gorton Creek? I've never hiked beyond the box canyon section, but I have a hunch that this photo, and that nice mini-gorge image that Marc Adamus posted are from there. Guess I'd better put on my creek walkers and head up that canyon! The only photos I've seen of Gorton Creek Falls are head-on views from the base of the falls, and don't show it as as a steep, angled contact falls, as shown in this photo. Interesting!

where ever this is Darren, you did good. Fix the yellow cast of teh water and its a killer

Yes, this is Gorton Creek.

and in my opinion the best shots of this area are below the main falls....we hiked all the way up to the base of the main falls and its not too photogenic at all....I can post a shot of it later.......

Is that a combination scramble & wade this time of year, Darren? I've read all sorts of reviews, ranging from ominous to a simple rock hop. I'm guessing that I'd want to wear my creek walkers..?

Tom, don't plan on getting to the main falls without getting wet......but never deeper then your knee.

I made it up there in April only sacrificing one foot up to my ankle, fwiw.

That sounds pretty reasonable - I'll have to get past my mental block and get up there this Spring. I'm thinking that on this visit, I'll also opt to put my camera in the car before backing out... long story, there.
