I'm not sure whether anyone else has had this problem, but if you have and have found a solution...
I've recently had to convert to Vista (company laptop so no choice really) and have now found that my Nikon scanner software simply does not work on the operating system. Contacting Nikon (South Africa) has had no joy. So at the moment I'm left with an expensive but essentially useless scanner.
Does anyone have any suggestions, or has anyone experienced the same thing? If so, were you able to solve it?
Try configuring the software to run as administrator. This is not ideal and your company's IT folks may not like it (though they'll probably not approve of you using the company laptop for personal work anyway ), but it may solve the issue.
If it's a modern/supported scanner I'd expect Nikon to come out with a fix, though Vista had been out in beta for years now so one would wonder what they've been waiting for.
I've tried the administrator bit, and it still doesn't run sadly. I think the next thing is to simply bug Nikon. I find it odd that the software doesn't run, or that updates have been made public considering its the LS-5000, so theoretically as up-to-date as you can get. Thankfully the company I work for is pretty lenient about personal use of the comp (at least for photography at any rate *phew*) so the IT chaps have started suggesting loading a XP driver, which apparently available.
I've got a Coolscan V and it runs well with Vista (Nikon Scan 4). However I do know a lot of people who have had problems with Vista when it is installed as an upgrade. A clean install seems much better. I've also just had to upgrade from 2 to 4gb ram to keep Vista happy and running fast. Tristan
