This rather large wood pigeon landed on my fence while I was doing some test shots with my Canon 300mm f/2.8 IS, one of the American guys on another forum thought it maybe an American Wood Pigeon

Canon 30D
Canon 300mm f/2.8 L IS
f/5, 1/320, ISO200
PP:- 50% crop and resize.

Hi Nick,

Doubt it's the american version, more like one stuffed with the local fields spring drillings!!

Well we know where all the pies have gone!

Not surprised it was perched there...couldn't fly I reckon!

Hi Brian,

Th original pic was in landscape, the focus point was dead centre on the bird so I cropped either side and a little at the top and bottom so its about 50 % of the original frame, I resized to 850 x 568 pixels. Al in Phtoshop CS2.

Cheers

Thanks Nick

I though this was what you meant but wondered whether I was missing something!

Nick - did you have a field of peas nearby - if the farmer's lost 'em you know where they are - that's one stuffed pidge

I bet he's got heartburn

I love the expression on its face. The Billy Bunter of the Pigeon World, 'The plumpfulness is terrific' to paraphrase Hurree Jamset Ram Singh.
