I think I might darken it just slightly to pull out even more definition/separation but I really like it, Ned.

I hate horsetails! The vacant lot across the street from my house is a breeding ground and they invade our garden. Difficult to appreciate an image of something despised so much...but I do like the fern.

What a great combination of greens and textures. I, too, would like to see it a tad darker. (I'm on my work monitor, so take that with a grain of salt.) I'm of the horsetail-loving sect. Now if you posted a photo of vinca...

I agree with the masses, just a tad darker would do it.

Ned, on my monitor your color looks right on. Spring greens are amazingly bright and intense, and I find they are easily oversaturated. Looks like you pretty much nailed it. Your frame with continuous color and texture from one edge to the other is my kind of look - so I love it.

Thank you for your comments... The ferns were indeed pretty light based on the light I was working with. This ended up being as close to the actual scene as I could get it. When I looked at it, the image reminded me a lot of Jerry Greer's work - something I have admired for a long time now..
