... but I did like this from last weekend's jaunt. The Cedar Creek Gristmill as seen from the edge of the covered bridge, (just out of view). There were quite a few visiting here as I shot, and I finished about 15 minutes before the mill opened for tours. Just upstream above the small falls visible, the Fish and Wildlife department was doing some work with Salmon. The flume visible that feeds water to the mill is unfortunately stagnant, with no fresh water flowing through. I had hoped to make use of that in some compositions, but no such luck..
Anyway - this straight on shot is about the only clear view, despite the big tree and branches visible in the foreground. I had to work with it, trying to compose as carefully as possible so that the majority of branches "curved" around windows and window openings. The detail of the structure looked like something Mark would have a hey day with..
Ned, I like the comp, but for me, its the wrong time of day. the light is too strange, and that bright white spot on the right where the water hits the creek really makes my eye jump around this scene...
I know from personal experience this is a hard one to shoot and I finally got my personal fave last year at about 3:30am in July. Lack of perspective is what makes this really hard to shoot..all you have is about the span of the bridge and thats it....

Thanks for the comments.. can you imagine this place if you hit it at the peak in fall? I've also thought this would be a good four seasons sort of place..
