Has anyone else, who is using PS CS3, noticed a drop in performance - in terms of speed? Also it seems like everything else on my system slows down when PSCS3 is running. I have 2 GB of RAM and it ran fine with PSCS. Well it slowed down when I brought in a 300MB scan of a 4x5 and added a few layers, but my whole system did not slow down. Anyone else notice this?

Youssef, so far I haven't noticed any drop in speed, even on larger files. In fact, I was thinking it seems a little faster if anything. I was working on a 800+MB file the other day and it seemed to go surprisingly fast. I don't have any actual time comparisons or anything though; perhaps it's just in my mind.

Hmmm... Last weekend I worked up a 13" X 19" photo collage at 360 DPI with 18 layers. I didn't see how big the file was before I flattened it, but my iMac 20 with 2GHz core duo and 2 Gig RAM did chug a bit. Overall it seems faster than CS2 running on the same machine.

A definite slowdown on my computer. Dell dual processor with 2 gigs running Vista.

When running CS3 and multi-tasking with other programs (usually Word & my website editor) I notice a definite sluggishness that I didn't have before. It’s manageable and I could live with it, but won’t.

I was told that with Vista, 2 gigs is the "real world" minimum. I just ordered 2 more gigabytes through Amazon. They beat all my local prices.

For what it's worth, I'm really happy with Vista in spite of all the negative reviews.

I have not noticed anything slow about it, on my MBP it runs natively, so it fast as ever. I have work with 200mg files and have noticed no difference in speed. Btw, I have 3gigs memory, and 200 gig harddrive.

On the Intel Macs, CS3 will be much faster since it's a universal binary as opposed to CS2 that was running in emulation mode. I used the CS3 beta on Windows and didn't notice it being much slower than CS2 for me.

No, like Rob, when I multi-task, everything slows down. Hmm

Youseff, you can set the ideal range of ram and cache levels for your computer thru CS3. Go to Edit and at the bottom to Preferences and then go to performance. This will bring up a window to adjust the amount of Ram you will let CS3 use when in use. Hope this helps. Robbie

Where I saw the big drop in speed was going from PSCS to CS2. I could run PSCS with 512 mg of RAM, but after I upgraded to CS2 no way. I upped the RAM to 1 GB and was still sluggish, so now I have 2GB and its about like PSCS was with 512 mg of RAM.

At 4GB RAM and Vista, no noticeable difference in speed, even with mutiple windows open and running (explorer, word, excel, cs3, registax, focusmagic). Just as fast, if not faster, than CS2.

with 2 GB on XP I would say that it is faster.
