Can I stop Lightroom "auto-launch" ?

I think someone mentioned this before, but I can't find that thread, so excuse me if this has already been answered.

As far as I can tell, Adobe Lightroom launches itself whenever I insert media that contain image files. This is extremely annoying and I want to disable this feature.

A couple of times a week I just want to transfer files from a CF card to my computer. As soon as I put the card in the reader, I have to suffer through a slow and pointless launch of an application I'm not planning to use right then. I don't want to remove Lightroom, I just want it to shut up until I tell it to do something.

You can try these things:

1) In Lightroom's preferences under File Management, select "Do Nothing" under "When memory card is detected".

2) In the System Tray you may see an icon, "Adobe Photo Downloader", disable it.

3) On a PC, go to Start > Run > type "msconfig" > Startup tab > uncheck "apdproxy".

Alan

Thank you! I'm not at the computer with Lightroom right now, but when I am I'll try your suggestions.

My problem in these cases is usually not knowing which words to search in the index to get the question answered.

The only thing that disables the autoload function is disabling the "Adobe Photo Downloader" in the system tray. Setting "do nothing" in Preferences does exactly that...it does nothing to stop the autoload! Just click on the downloader icon in the system tray and choose "disable".

Do nothing did nothing (as reported - thanks Tom). I tried disabling the downloader.

To the programmer that added an apparently added the smarta** option of "Do Nothing," this somewhat reluctant and begrudged Photoshop user is not amused. Not at all.
