Looks like if you like to photo bears, Alaska really is the place to be. You don't even have to go running off into the woods--just open the curtains of your living room window and take a few photos during TV commercials.   And my kids got upset the time they saw the cat eating a gopher on the back deck.

Wow, that was a Sunday to remember. I think they should have kept the carcass for the bear. Obviously it had to be removed from the location. The bear would find it, I am sure.

The persons living there are certainly on high alert for any bear encounters.

Yikes that was a spectacle I'm sure! Here in NC, in Asheville, a black bear recently killed a resident's dog. It apparently got the community all upset, fearing for their children. But it's a very rare occurrence for this area.

Well Kent you don't have to live in Alaska to see Bears out of your living room window. I must admit I haven't seen them kill anything (living) here yet, but they sure can make a mess of things. We have a 350-400lb Black Bear visiting us and I have a Blue Tick hound outside. Problem with some bears is they seem to have very short memories, compounded by their huge appetites. I suspect those folks are a bit nervous.

Never seen them kill anything either, but here is a link to a cub out my kitchen window. We live in Colorado Springs.

little bear

We had a mom and two cubs in the backyard this day. My wife saw one earlier this week too.
