Great comp and processing...and ultimately a pleasing image.

Great shot Darren! You are killin' me with all these April/May PNW wildflower shots.  In Colorado our prime season is in July (Crested Butte and San Juans).

In another thread Marc Adamus mentioned you guys also get mountain wildflowers in late July and early August. Can you tell me where you shots these flowers. I am thinking of coming out next Spring to check things out. I really miss the coast also.

Derek, this field is just off the Historic Hwy in Rowena, Exit 69 on I-84 headed west...

I am seriously thinking of doing the Crested Butte festival this year.....I hope it all works out....

our mountain wildflowers will be popping around July and August near St. Helens, Hood, and Rainer!

I like your placement of the closest group of flowers in the LLC...adds depth as the rest of the flowers trail off to the upper right. Well done.

Nice shot Darren. Where was this taken?

I think it's a beauty, Darren. Nicely done in the soft light.

A veritable wildflower riot. Nice composition, and it looks like you've captured them at their elusive peak. (I went up there for the first time this year, and though I haven't developed my film yet, I KNOW I didn't get a photo nearly this good.) On my work monitor (grain of salt) I'd lighten it up just a tad.

Nice work Darren! The upward-right motion of the clouds is a key element in this image and balances the the angle of the hill-slope without leading my eye away from the main subject.
Patience for the sky to co-operate is worth the wait.

I missed this the first time around, Darren - what a beautiful image! The overall composition is really nice, but I especially like the foreground. I particularly like how the sweep of blooms takes your eye from the single balsamroot in the lower left to the more distant, subtle meadows surrounding the group of three trees in the upper right. It really captures the feeling of the eastern Gorge - nice!
