I collected several dozen of them now and recently realized none of the local big box office stores will take them (they take HP and others but not Epson). I even found some cartridge recycling envelopes at the local pet store to benefit homeless pets but they don't take "white or gray cartridges".
Any thoughts on where I could get these recycled? I'd hate to throw them away.
I have yet to recycle any, Guy but my local Circuit City has a bin for empty cartridges. I don't recall seeing any specific brands on the sign above the bin so you may want to check there.
Our local Staples gives us three dollars back on your next purchase to recycle them, but only one per purchase, I took back ten and of course they wouldn't give me thirty dollars of that purchase.
In Boston, at least two local Staples stores discontinued their rebate program on Epson cartridges while retaining it for HP and others. When I asked, I was told that Epson forbade them (legal action??) from recycling or accepting returned cartridges. Of course that could be just store gossip or a ruse to get me to go away but they seemed to value the rebate deal as a way to get return customer business so...
Too bad Epson doesn't put a little pre-paid envelope in with their cartridges like HP does. In this day and age it would seem to be a smart move to lessen your enviormental impact in the publics eye.
Hmmm... I checked the Web site for Epson NA and they recyle the big stuff (printers and the like) but only take toner cartridges. Gotta find out where to take the 10 cartridges I go through every three months from my 2400 printer (other than my local Staples). Here is their email address if you wish to inquire also...

UPDATE 5/16/07:
Just received this note from Epson...I think all of us Epson users shuld put some pressure on them to catch up with their recycling efforts...
Dear Mr. McCarey,
The used ink jet cartridge collection programs that some retailers use are often administered by third party vendors, or refillers. The refillers decide which products to include in their program. Because we do not use disposable printheads in each cartridge like many of our competitors, Epson products are usually not included as there is no market for our used cartridges. Our cartridges are of no value to them.
Refilling cartridges can introduce air bubbles and particles that could damage the printhead or result in diminished print quality. We do not refill or remanufacture our ink cartridges because to do so properly, neither alternative is cost effective. However, we are concerned about the environment and are currently evaluating programs designed to accommodate used ink cartridges. When the program has been completed, the information will be posted on our website. Our intention is to introduce a program that is environmentally appropriate yet economical and convenient for our
customers to use.
We appreciate your support of Epson products and we thank you for
bringing your concern to our attention. Please contact us if we can be of further assistance to you.
Alain, are you fairly comfortable dealing with that company? I just took a look at their Epson ink cartridges prices and they are very, very good, especially for the 220's.
Byte 2 print is basically EximVaios. The EximVaios website link redirects to Byte2print.
I have ordered from EximVaios regularly and never had a problem. I even bought my 4800 from them because they offered a great trade-in for my 4000. If I have a question I just call them - they are very helpful.
