Found this chap mooching about this morning where I've had my feeders - the place is a tumble-down ex mink farm and these damn cages are absolutely everywhere, but it's mans' junk that rats love so I don't mind the rusty wire in the shot - here's that word 'contextual' again!
Stuggling for light too - hence the high ISO Paul!

I think the setting works fine with the rat appering through the gap in the wire.
Lighting looks a litte on the harsh side though, definately worth a re-shoot on a nice overcast day,or rather, dull overcast day. Also I'd prefer the shot without the sunflower seed shells, although saying that,it does give an indication as to why the rat is there and what he's probabily after.
The eye level view works a treat.
Yes the light is a little harsh, but you have handled this well and I would be tempted to cloan out the pebble. However I think everything else is great - good composition and typical rat habitat!

There are plenty of rats inhabiting the brook at the bottom of our close. Don't tell the neighbours! A much maligned species, but a really nice close up much improved by cloning out the pebble,

Thanks for looking
Nice shot, the wire and such works fine for the rat's environ.
Always good to see a fellow sigma 500 user
