Hillside Falls
I know....another waterfall picture...but, hey....it's the northwest, and water is our friend here....

This little cascade is about 75ft high but up a sheer cliff...this is only about 10 feet of it....the rest goes WAY up the hill and you can't see it for the brush!

I found it while driving up to the Souxion the other day....not many vantage points for this one....so I just thought I would share...

Darren....

I have some more of another waterfall in a very similar location I will post later.......

Cheers :toast:

You're not going to get complaints about waterfall pics from me, Darren! I like this a lot. It's a lovely, fresh scene that hasn't been photographed to death, and the shape of this section of the falls is very attractive.

Given that you've cropped a square image, where is your extra detail located? If on the left and bottom, then a small suggestion would be to re-crop the image just slightly in those direction, so that the left edge is back from the falls a bit, and that bit of white trunk at center top is out of the frame. Not sure if it would have been possible, but I'd have cleared out the pile of twigs at the bottom of the falls -- more a matter of taste, and I don't know that many would be distracted by that sort of detail. I also line up the glasses in the kitchen cupboard in little rows, so I have some serious baggage on that front... ;-)

This reminds me a lot of the group of waterfalls along the Tanner Butte Trail, near the old trailhead -- intricate and graceful... and quintessential PNW! Well done!

Beautiful image, Darren. You've managed to capture a good amount of detail here too!

Nice one, Darren - terrific greens...

Man Darren, your photography has really come a long way since you joined the group. I wish I had the time to get out and shoot enough to excersize my artistic eye... I really feel left in the dust these days.

Anyway, I really like your work, keep it up! And I never get tired of watery images either.

This is really great and I agree with Curtis, you're getting better all the time. Part if it is just "doing" the post processing steps until you nail your system down. You have yours nailed

Thanks everyone for the comments, I really appreciate it...

The rest of the falls is up to your right...it goes way up but is mostly covered by branches...not very photogenic at all...

I want to shoot this area again in the fall.

Very nice! I like the square comp and vivid color. It is nice to see a waterfall photo that has taken a different shape than the others.

Darren,

I really like the colors, and the sharpness seems right on. I also think the composition is quite well balanced. Nice image.
