Step-up Ring for Close-up Lenses?

I have a set of Hoya close-up lenses (+1, +2, +4) for a zoom lens with a filter diameter of 67mm. I have another zoom lens that I would like to try using close-up lenses on. It has a filter diameter of 62mm. Is it reasonable to get a step-up ring for the 62mm lens so that I can use the 67mm close-up lenses on it? Will this have any impact on the sharpness of the images (provided I actually use it correctly)?

Thanks!

It would probably work just fine. Try it and see, step up rings are inexpensive. I've used the Nikon 5T and 6T 62mm lenses with my 105mm macro lens that has 52mm filter threads. I used a step up ring for that and the results were great.

You will, however, get better results from some of the two element close up lenses available from Nikon (5T, 6T) or Canon (500D, etc), assuming of course that the Hoyas are single element close up lenses.

Just a quick note...Nikon has discontinued the 5T and 6T diopter lenses!
